Revolut Skills Interview

Show judgement at the scope of the role.

“Skills” is the category; the interview inside it depends on the role and level. Virginia’s direct coaching experience covers Product Skills, People Management & Leadership and senior-level interviews.

What “Skills Interview” means

There is no single universal Skills interview. The assessment is adapted to the capabilities and seniority of the role. A product candidate may need to work through a product or growth problem. A people leader may be challenged on hiring, performance, team design and difficult management decisions. A senior candidate must show judgement across a wider system: priorities, trade-offs, stakeholders and second-order effects.

Product Skills

Strong product answers start with a business objective and a clearly defined user. They connect customer behaviour to a KPI tree, diagnose the evidence before designing and make trade-offs explicit.

  • Define the outcome and the metric that represents it.
  • Understand the customer journey and where behaviour breaks down.
  • Separate output, input and guardrail metrics.
  • Tie solutions to the diagnosed cause rather than brainstorm broadly.
  • Prioritise with user value, economics, risk and feasibility in view.
  • Explain experiments, dependencies and how the roadmap would unfold.

People Management & Leadership

The interview is not looking for polished management slogans. It needs evidence that you can set a bar, make difficult calls and adapt your approach to the person and situation. Expect your decisions to be tested: what you observed, what you did personally, what changed and what you learned.

Senior-level interviews

Seniority appears in the breadth and quality of the decision. A senior answer should show how you create focus across competing goals, influence without hiding behind consensus, understand commercial consequences and build an operating system that can scale beyond your own effort.

Common failure patterns

  • Answering the title of the question while missing the business objective.
  • Listing ideas without a clear diagnosis or decision.
  • Using team-level outcomes while remaining vague about personal ownership.
  • Describing ideal leadership principles without a difficult, specific example.
  • Ignoring economics, risk, dependencies or downstream effects.
  • Giving the same answer regardless of the scope and seniority of the role.

How coaching is tailored

Before the session, share the exact Skills label, role and seniority shown in your process. Virginia builds the exercise around that assessment and coaches the interview craft, product judgement and leadership signals she can credibly assess. If your need is specialist technical depth outside that lane, she will tell you.

Virginia coaches Product Skills, People Management & Leadership and senior-level interview performance. This is not technical training in specialist areas such as AML, FinCrime or engineering architecture.

Skills FAQ

Is Product Skills the same as Problem Solving?

No. Both require structured thinking, but Product Skills focuses on product judgement: customers, metrics, diagnosis, prioritisation, trade-offs and execution. Problem Solving is a broader operating case.

Can you coach candidates outside product?

For the Skills round, Virginia works where the assessment overlaps with her direct experience: product, people management, leadership and senior operating judgement. She is transparent when a specialist functional interview falls outside her lane.

What should I send before the session?

Your role description, seniority, interview label and any non-confidential guidance the recruiter has provided.
